Oh Mayer, what are you going to do next?? This revival sound has its limits. A talented fella with a lot of the right people backing him I’m hoping we’ll not be disappointed. Another thing he has gong for him is that he looks a lot like my friend Dan, don’t you agree?
A few pics from his performance at The Queen of Hoxton. Thanks to Russ Jay for letting me use his +1 on the door and Chico for hooking it up.
Last night I had the pleasure of seeing The xx live at Village Underground. I’ve had the album on repeat for a while now and have been keen to see a live performance. There was not a whole lot of movement on stage which is even more credit to the power of their sound. Standing among a transfixed crowd I let the simple rifts and chest rumbling bass lines take over, incredible. We were also treated to their new cover of Florence + The Machine You’ve Got The Love, a track that has been ripped apart a few times. The original by Jamie Principle, which you can listen to in my post from a few days ago ‘My House’.
Thanks to Dan Neal @ RKCR and Ita Shafrir @ Universal for hooking me up with the ticket. And not forgetting Morgan Clement @ Mother who first introduced me to The xx.
Aware that there are a load of mixes on the internet these days it’s hard to give your time to all of them. If you’re looking at this post chances are we have similar taste, so lock down and tune in to the forth installment from the bPm and d’Wala @ Hold // Box // Flat, you will not be disappointed.

This weekend I came across a few documentary’s via the amazing YouTube and thought I’d share my findings.
The History of House was an entertaining watch that had me bouncing in my seat throughout. Having a massive love affair with music myself I felt like I was falling deeper and deeper for it. Having a better understanding of where the music came from, how it evolved and grew and meeting the people responsible for making it all possible was a complete joy. What I wouldn’t do to have a taste of the scene back then….Enjoy!
Maestro Larry Levan & early DJ culture is a great incite into New York City’s Paradise Garage 1976 to 1987. I need little encouragement to get excited about this scene, this documentary confirmed all my feelings. I’m in love dancing….
It was a truly epic trip but none of it would have been possible without the people that helped me along the way…..
