THE BOX Music Television You Control

A reminder that the boy look is hot. Been questioning myself recently but the ladies below have reassured me that when done right this look is pure fire. Not quite hot enough for the belly tops yet but I might just have to ride this look into the summer…

War Council

A scene from Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever that initially comes across as being about race but take the words black, white, Chinese and Rainbow out and its the same shit most women have sat around discussing. Men and Women will always analyse, criticised each other, it’s a fact of life, no point in denying it. A well written scene that in the space of four and a half minutes touches you on many emotions levels. Lets face it, get five women in a room and eventually they’re gonna talk about dick. A great movie, dated but worth watching.
For the record I believe true love has no color and no boundaries.

Gild The Lily

Some pictures I took back in 2007. Gathering inspiration from passed shoots to get a clear idea of what I want to create in future ones. Why gild a lily?

The Vulture

I’ve just finished reading The Vulture by Gil Scott-Heron. Its a story from the late 60’s based in the ghetto, New York City. A man known well for his lyrics Gil does not disappoint. If you know anything about Gil you will realise while reading this book that that he’s telling stories close to his own experiences.

Slightly anxious to hear what his new album sounds like after a 13 year gap. I don’t expect to hear another Pieces of a Man but I have Gil on a very high pedestal and want to keep him there.
Me And The Devil is our first taster and its left my mouth watering. The spoken word at the end on the clip below is the first page of The Vulture. Read it.

Black President

kuti11b

Steve McQueen is set to direct and co-write Fela the movie. There’s a lot of hype around Fela Kuti at the moment which is great but it’s important for people to know the background and I have no doubt McQueen will honor the legend that is Fela.
If you don’t know his music, shame on you! and get over to the Giant Step site for a few free downloads.
